IASME Named New Licensed Body by UK Cyber Security Council

UK Cyber Security Council is welcoming IASME as its newest Licensed Body.

The UK Cyber Security Council has announced that IASME has been appointed a Licensed Body, supporting the Council's work to strengthen and professionalise the UK's cyber security sector. Licensed Bodies are organisations authorised by the Council to assess applicants for its professional cyber security titles, evaluating candidates against the UK Cyber Security Standard of Professional Competence and Commitment and making recommendations on whether they should be awarded a title.

IASME will initially assess applicants for Principal Cyber Security Professional and Chartered Cyber Security Professional titles in the Cyber Security Governance & Risk Management specialism and the Secure System Architecture & Design specialism, with a view to expanding the routes it offers over time. IASME joins the Council's existing Licensed Bodies: the Chartered Institute of Information Security, The Cyber Scheme and CREST.

Giles Grant, CEO of the UK Cyber Security Council, said the Council was "delighted to welcome IASME as a Licensed Body," noting that its expertise in cyber security assurance and assessment would bring valuable support to the Council's professionalisation framework and help build a trusted, empowered cyber workforce operating to unified standards.

Emma Philpott MBE, CEO of IASME, said the organisation was "really excited to become a UKCSC licenced body," adding that having a choice of several licensed bodies would allow individuals to choose the route that best suits them, while maintaining a high standard of assurance quality.

IASME is a UK-based cyber security company working with a network of more than 1,000 cyber security consultants across the UK and Crown Dependencies, partnering with the UK Government to run assurance schemes, assessments and certifications that demonstrate strong cyber security capability. The UK Cyber Security Council, established by Royal Charter, sets a unified framework of professional and ethical standards for the sector and holds the UK's Cyber Security Professional Register across four professional titles: Associate, Practitioner, Principal and Chartered.

Cyber security professionals working in governance and risk management, or secure system architecture and design, can expect more information on how to apply for a professional title via IASME from September 2026.
