Join the Department for Business & Trade and the British Embassy Jakarta to explore the dynamic cyber landscape of Indonesia

The Department for Business & Trade (DBT) in collaboration with the British Embassy Jakarta, invites expressions of interest for a trade mission to explore Indonesia’s dynamic cyber ecosystem and uncover potential commercial opportunities.

During a presidential visit to the UK in November 2024, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Starmer agreed to launch a new long-term UK–Indonesia Strategic Partnership in 2025. Enhanced defence and security cooperation, including cybersecurity will be a key pillar of this partnership.

Indonesia represents an exciting market opportunity, with its digital economy projected to exceed $130 billion this year— one of the fastest-growing in Southeast Asia. However, this digital expansion has led to increasing cyber threats and vulnerabilities. In response, Indonesia has strengthened its cybersecurity framework through initiatives such as the establishment of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and the drafting of a Cyber Security Act. Additionally, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s Indo-Pacific Cyber Programme actively supports capacity building through national awareness campaigns and training initiatives.

To capitalise on these developments, DBT and the British Embassy Jakarta are organising a targeted cybersecurity trade mission to showcase UK expertise in national cyber resilience, in particular CNI protection and defence cyber capabilities.

The mission aims to facilitate engagement between UK cyber companies and Indonesian partners, distributors, government agencies, and end users. This mission is scheduled immediately after Singapore Cyber Week and DBT’s Singapore Cyber Trade Mission, making it convenient for companies already in the region. In addition, the mission will coincide with the 4th edition of Indonesia National Cybersecurity Connect, an event supported by BSSN, offering further opportunities for networking and business development.

Indicative Programme Overview:

  • Roundtable discussion- A platform for UK and Indonesia stakeholders to exchange views and explore collaboration on cybersecurity policy and operations.
  • Industry showcasing- A tailored session for meetings between UK cyber firms and potential Indonesian partners, agents, and buyers.
  • Networking event- An opportunity for UK and Indonesian cybersecurity stakeholders to connect, exchange ideas, and build relationships. • External visits- Visit to key government agencies in defence and civil sectors and leading system integrators.
  • Attendance to Indonesia’s cyber connect (29-30 Oct 2025)- A chance to explore the latest cybersecurity trends and connect with key players in Indonesia’s cyber ecosystem.
