DBIST Seeks Experienced UK Telecoms Firms for India Mobile Congress Mission

DBIST is calling on experienced UK telecoms firms to join its India Mobile Congress trade mission.

DBIST is organising a trade delegation to India Mobile Congress (IMC) in New Delhi, inviting experienced UK telecoms and cyber security companies to build on the UK-India Connectivity Innovation Centre and capitalise on last year's UK-India trade deal.

This mission is intended only for companies with genuine experience of both the telecoms sector and the Indian market, given how challenging that market can be for newcomers to enter.

The UK and India share a goal of extending high-quality, innovative and cyber-secure digital connectivity to citizens in both countries, including those in hard-to-reach areas, a priority underpinned by the UK-India Connectivity Innovation Centre launched at IMC in October 2025. India is home to the world's largest number of mobile subscribers and an increasingly influential satellite communications market, with the UK's OpenRAN, Standalone 5G and SatComms sectors already attracting strong Indian interest. The UK-India trade deal signed in July 2025, the UK's biggest and most economically significant trade agreement since leaving the EU, is expected to grow bilateral trade by £25.5 billion in the long run.

Led by DBIST's Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Julia Sutcliffe, the delegation will travel to New Delhi for IMC between 7 and 10 October 2026. Since its inception, IMC has established itself as the leading forum in Asia for bringing together industry, government, academia and the wider telecoms ecosystem to discuss the latest trends in telecoms, innovation and cutting-edge technology.

Participating companies can expect:

• Curated attendance at IMC 2026, with privileged access to an invitation-only programme of activity alongside the conference

• Membership of a UK-led delegation, with exposure to major Indian telecoms corporates and direct meetings with senior stakeholders

• Increased visibility and credibility with leading Indian telcos and multinational partners

• Targeted networking with Indian industry associations such as NASSCOM, government agencies such as Invest India, and academia and UK universities with a telecoms focus based in India

• Access to major Indian cyber security companies, data centres and system integrators, including Infosys

DBIST's trade and investment teams in India will provide dedicated support to delegates. Applications are welcomed from the advanced connectivity technologies (ACT) and cyber security sectors, with priority given to UK companies that are either operating internationally with an interest in India, domestic companies interested in expanding into India, or UK companies already established in the Indian market.
